The Query Object Model

The new managed API to support the execution of an Enterprise Search query is encapsulated within the Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.dll and defined within the Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Query namespace. The assemblies contain a completely new set of classes in Office SharePoint Server 2007. The earlier version of SharePoint—SharePoint Portal Server 2003—contained the QueryProvider class, which has become obsolete in the query object model. The class is still defined and available for compatibility reasons, but Microsoft deemphasizes the use of this class in your code.
