There is a good reason for including a chapter on the BDC in this book on indexing and searching. The index engine that is part of Office SharePoint 2007 is capable of crawling the CRM data that we have unlocked with the creation and importing of the application definition file. The model that was declaratively constructed within that XML file contains an entity exposing a method of type IDEnumerator. That is basically the core piece within the model that is required when you want to have the business data crawled. A number of administration tasks must be completed to notify the index engine of the new business data, however.
