Noise Words

Noise words are words that should be prevented from entering the index during a crawl. They are sometimes also referred to as stop words. The primary purpose is to prevent the index from becoming bloated with frequently occurring words. In English, such words include and, is, in, it, of, the, and to. Other types of noise words are ones that are considered politically incorrect or offensive. Further examples include your company name and words like copyright that appear frequently in documents and Web pages.
