Search Topologies
A topology in the context of SharePoint search refers to a specific way of arranging and connecting the various search-related software components across physical servers in a farm. This section provides an overview of the different types of search topologies you can deploy with Office SharePoint Server 2007. We will also review a topology in which Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express is used to provide cross-site search capabilities to a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 farm.
