How This Book Is Organized
The book is divided into several chapters, organized by subject:
- Chapter 1, iPod Hardware
This chapter covers the iPod itself, from cleaning it to installing it in your car permanently. If you can do it to the iPod, it’s in this chapter.
- Chapter 2, Non-iPod Hardware
As powerful as the iPod is, it can’t possibly do everything. This chapter covers how to make third-party devices interact with your iTunes music collection.
- Chapter 3, iPod Software
The iPod is a computer that runs on software. This software can be manipulated, tweaked, twiddled, and otherwise hacked to turn the iPod into far more than just a music player.
- Chapter 4, iTunes
From hacking the iTunes interface to getting down and dirty with ID3 tags, this chapter helps you take your digital music to the next level.
- Chapter 5, AppleScript for iTunes
AppleScript is the most powerful tool for extending iTunes and integrating it with other aspects of your computing environment. This chapter teaches you the basics of AppleScripting for iTunes and covers a number of great scripts for iTunes.
- Chapter 6, Beyond iTunes
There are some things (believe it or not!) that iTunes can’t do. This chapter covers tools and methods for doing things with your digital music that just aren’t possible within iTunes.
