Loops should be managed as a unit at some levels. is point will become more
obvious when we discuss interval and capacity shortly. For now, though, take this to
mean that each loop should only get one production signal (heijunka schedule or kan-
ban signal), and should have a single lot size for the parts in the loop. What this means
in terms of capacity management is that all of the processes in a loop can be managed
as a single entity, since they will all be producing to the same interval; therefore, all of
their capacities will be in balance as long as the interval for the loop can be achieved.
