Lean Transformation Methodology
We have written this book to help to bridge the gap between traditional planning
approaches revolving around ERP and the purely Lean approach, which has somehow
evolved into trying to use no systems at all to support the manufacturing process. We
feel that most manufacturing processes are too complex to respond well to anything
less than a comprehensive approach to manufacturing products. Because of this, we
feel that a mixture of solid education on the benchmark principles of Lean combined
with a tool kit that helps solve some of the more difficult problems posed by these
principles is the correct approach to transforming the value stream from its current
