LOt sizing
In this chapter we will review the issues of how to determine lot sizes for production in
Lean. We will cover lot sizing — every part every interval (EPEI), interval and cost,
make to order interval, and lot sizing and capacity.
Lot Sizing in Lean
ere are really only two valid choices for lot sizing in a Lean value stream: one piece,
the preferred method, as it provides a basis for leveling workload in the value stream
(heijunka), and EPEI, used where runtime plus setup time is greater than takt time.
