Exchange System Manager
Exchange System Manager (ESM) is a preconfigured Microsoft Management Console (MMC) file containing a number of snap-ins (management tools) and snap-in extensions that combine to form the primary administrative tool for Exchange. Understanding how to use ESM relies in part on an understanding of the MMC framework and layout.
The MMC framework is an extensible, common presentation service for management tools. MMC 1.0 was first introduced by Microsoft and used for some management tools that were added to Windows NT 4.0.
