Link State Routing Improvements

Exchange 2000 introduced a new feature called link state routing that is used internally by Exchange to determine the best route a message should take. Exchange uses a Link State Algorithm (LSA) to evaluate the optimal route based on the state of known links and the costs assigned to them. Exchange's LSA is based in part on the OSPF protocol used in networking. Links can be in one of two states: up or down. When the state of a link changes from up to down or vice versa, link state information is shared between Exchange servers.
