Download News
Business news is all over the Web and easy to obtain electronically; the trick is receiving what you need to know without reaching information overload.
If you were to log on to every investing web site that you found interesting, you would find yourself quickly overwhelmed. Most of these sites offer delivery of headlines, company news, and industry trends—all useful, yet potentially more information than you want flooding your email box. Savvy investors want to know what’s going on in the overall market, which includes news and analysis of business and industry trends, not just the scoop on the latest company earning release. It’s just as important to know why something is happening as it is to know what is happening. In fact, informed analysis is what sets the best sites apart from the run-of-the-mill. This hack reviews the best free and for-a-fee sites for breaking news, company news, market news, and industry news.
News Delivery
Web sites that offer news also offer a choice of delivery options. You can choose to go to the news or request a web site to send the news to you. Table 3-5 provides the pros and cons for news delivery via email, PDA, or cell phone.
Tip
Although it’s easy to sign up to receive news, sign up only for what you really need. Otherwise, you’ll ignore most of it, which defeats the purpose of readily available information.
