ACR workflow options are vital to the success of any compositing workflow that starts with raw source images (Figure 7.19). The most important thing you can do is make sure you output each image that you’re going to be manipulating in Photoshop as a 16-bit file. This will give you more data to work with and is one of the key benefits of shooting raw files, which, unlike JPEGs, are often captured at 10, 12, or even 14 bits in some cases. The more data in your files that you have to work with, the better.
