Abstract
Industry 4.0 encompasses many emerging technologies. Out of these prevalent technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are two of the world’s most rapidly evolving advancements. The computational power of AI and collective interoperability of IoT results in a new generation technology, referred to as AI of Things (AIoT). The AIoT pushes the intelligence of smart devices to new heights by enabling them to perform computation-intensive tasks that are currently impossible to process with current IoT architectures. Applications of AIoT have been realized in various domains, varying from agriculture, smart cities, smart grids, transportation, security, etc. With the increasing population and limited capacity of medical staff to provide quality service to patients, the applications of AIoT can also be utilized to propose intelligent healthcare frameworks in terms of providing remote patient monitoring and predictive analysis, so that critical health issues can be diagnosed at the nascent stages. Therefore, this chapter presents a comprehensive review on the AIoT architecture and its applications in healthcare.
