Abstract
Blockchain technology has been receiving a great amount of attention in different domains due to its various features and possible use cases. This chapter attempts to review the work that has been done in the field of blockchain technology. It gives an insight into the terminology and applications of blockchain technology for beginners in the field. It also looks into various research papers, books, and articles written which suggest various implementations of blockchain technology. Moreover, real life examples are provided where blockchain technology has been implemented in various domains. The main aim of the study is to conduct a SWOT analysis to help assess the current situation concerning the readiness of the technology for implementation in domains other than finance. Finally, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats concerning the application of blockchain technology in the process of land registration will be discussed.
