Given that XLink is a part of XML, it should come as no surprise that it's possible to write your own XLink tag names. To create such a link, start with the following outline:
<MyXLinkElement>
. Body of the element
</MyXLinkElement>

At the time this material is being written, XLink and XPointer are still in the draft stage and neither one is implemented in IE 5. Therefore, the examples presented here demonstrate the basic syntax and organization of XLinks and XPointers, but they cannot be run.
