The fourth element of personal power is Reverent Power. This power can be said of anybody who has a consistent set of values. An obvious example of this is a religious leader like the pope, Billy Graham, or Robert Schuller. Pat Robertson was able to make a serious run at the presidency because he articulated one theme: You can trust me because I have a set of values and I am not going to deviate from those values. John F. Kennedy had Reverent Power. When he talked about the mantle of power passing to a new generation, born in this century, and when he talked about the new frontier, he was projecting that he believed in something—that he had a consistent set of values.
