23.1 INTRODUCTION
Although this book captures the broad variety of analyses that the workshop participants
conducted, and the reective pieces are meant to convey some of the avor of the cross-
perspective discussions that took place at the workshop, this volume cannot truly convey its
“buzz”—the intensity and vividness of the discussions that happened in the room. Fueled by
the range of disciplines represented by the participants, the discussions identied conicts,
challenged assumptions, looked for synergies, raised temperatures, and, quite frequently,
prompted peals of laughter.
