Abstract
In the recent decade, many useful/innovative advancements have been seen in healthcare sector. Healthcare technologies have led to the widespread adoption of medical sensor networks for real-time patient monitoring and data collection. However, the efficient exchange of medical data remains a significant challenge due to issues such as data security, privacy, etc. This chapter proposes an integrated framework that uses the combination of edge computing, medical sensor networks, and blockchain technology for medical data exchange. In our proposed system, medical sensors are strategically deployed to monitor patients’ important signs and health parameters. The collected data is processed at the edge of the network, reducing latency and removing the burden on centralized servers. Edge computing facilitates real-time analytics, enabling timely decision-making and response to essential medical events. We use blockchain technology as a decentralized and tamper-resistant ledger. Note that Patient data is stored in encrypted blocks, and access permissions are managed through smart contracts. This blockchain-based approach enhances data integrity, mitigates the risk of unauthorized access, and provide trust ...
