Abstract
Modern practices in medicine have benefited from the integration of surgical robotics, with healthcare professionals trained to secure and operate these intricate systems. Aided robotic surgery has seen a rise in its application, which in turn has increased the demand for comprehensive educational and certification requirements to ensure that the techniques are practised with sufficient skill and safety. The chapter examines the requisite training elements for surgical robot operators, such as basic medical knowledge, institutional training, simulations, and clinical attachments. In addition, it analyzes certification set by international bodies, the impact of Continuous Medical Education (CME) on competency development, and the ethical aspects of training towards robotic surgery. AI-driven training modules and Augmented Reality (AR) simulations are opening new frontiers in, for example, bridging the gaps of skill, procedural, and experience-based learning. Such technology can help transition ...
