39. Button That Shirt and Cover That Thigh

I have been quoted both nationally (New York Times) and internationally (Ottawa Citizen) regarding my opinions about professional dress. I believe that “sexy is not a corporate look.”

That’s why I was disappointed a couple of years ago to see television correspondents Katty Kay of the BBC and Norah O’Donnell, formerly of MSNBC, dress rather provocatively for an appearance on the NBC-syndicated program The Chris Matthews Show. These public figures were guests on the show to discuss, among other things, women in the workplace. (Many other journalists dress provocatively on air also.)

Kay’s shirt was open halfway down her chest, and O’Donnell’s skirt had a slit that revealed most of her upper thigh.
