94. Difficult Audience? Try These Suggestions

Most audiences want you to do well. Occasionally, however, you may encounter people who do not want to be in your audience or who have strong, sometimes negative, opinions about your topic.

Practice these suggestions to help win over any audience:

Know your audience. Learn as much as you can about your audience before your presentation. What do they already know about your topic? What more do they want to know? If you address your participants’ needs and concerns, they are more likely to listen and less likely to object to your comments.
