"Listen, Hope, you know I don't like to micromanage anyone, especially you, but Jim is real concerned that you won't be able to deliver the plan we need. I just need to check on your status. He said he looked for you all afternoon yesterday and you weren't here."

"I was at the doctor's," Hope responded. "Maybe next time I'll bring Jim with me so he can hold my hand."

"That's fine, Hope. I just need to know you're on it."

"I am. I have a lot of great ideas coming together and. . . . "

Dan interrupted, "That's great, but we don't just need ideas. We need a plan. I need to share a brief statement with the media about our plans on Monday morning, and I present to the board of directors Monday at 2. I need to know that you will deliver. Everyone's wondering if you will get the job done, and I'm telling them that I have faith in you, and with all we have going on right now I need to be able to count on you."

"You can count on me," Hope said, assuring both Dan and herself. "I'm working on it all day today, tomorrow, and over the weekend. You will have it first thing Monday morning."

"Good. Good. Good. But I expect you to get a lot done today because tomorrow I want you to update the executive team on your ideas and have a rough draft of your plan. We'll also be checking on the status of the recall and repair of our batteries. I told the team you'll be ready, ...
