Toyota was founded in 1918 in Japan, originally named Toyoda Spinning and Weaving Company. Sakichi Toyoda, its founder, was an inventor and innovator working in the textiles sector: he refined several technical aspects of the looms of the factory, bringing increased efficiency and better quality. His solutions saw the creation of a concept which is still one of the pillars of TPS: Jidoka, the autonomation. One of the main inventions of Toyoda is a weaving loom, called Type G, which stopped automatically if any of the threads of the fabric broke during operations. This principle caused two substantial revolutions:
