Discovering Tumblr’s Goodies

The folks at Tumblr like to take care of their users by providing fun ways to improve their Tumblr experience. To that end, they’ve developed (and continue to develop) a whole page full of cool Goodies for you to choose from including a free bookmarklet, info about Tumblr for your phone, tips on backing up your blog, making audio posts, and more.

The Goodies page is located at www.tumblr.com/goodies . You can also access this page by clicking the Goodies link in the footer of most Tumblr pages.

Using Tumblr’s Bookmarklet

A bookmarklet is a free little browser widget that you can drag onto your browser’s Bookmarks toolbar (or Favorites toolbar in Internet Explorer) to share content on your Tumblr blog that you find while surfing the Internet.

To start using the bookmarklet in your browser, locate the bookmarklet section of the Goodies page and drag the gray Share on Tumblr button to your browser’s bookmarks bar, as shown in Figure 8-10. The option to make your Bookmarks toolbar visible varies by browser type, so check your browser’s Help area for details.

After you add the bookmarklet to your Bookmarks toolbar, click it to share content from another site on your Tumblr page. Here’s how it works:
