When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Building slots
You can think of slots as specific types within a category. For example, when the user wants a cooking idea, they can give general food types such as pizza, burger, pasta, or brown rice, or can say 'I want to cook a burger, or, I want to cook a pizza'. Slots can be used to create variations of what the user will say so you have to create multiple variations of what the user will say in order to create an intent:
- Open your Chrome browser and go to the Alexa skills console (https://developer.amazon.com/alexa/console/ask).
- You will notice the Cooking skill that you just created. Click on the Cooking skill.
- On your Alexa Skill console, there is menu on the left-hand side called Slot Type(0) +Add. Click the Add button.
