22.2 Debugging Web Pages with the Web Developer Toolbar for Internet Explorer
Debugging issues related to web page content presentation can be a pain in the neck (or elsewhere). Firefox’s Web Developer Extension made a huge splash in the web development world with its powerful set of features to help web developers overcome annoying web page woes. That was great for folks who developed primarily Firefox-based applications, but what about the many developers needing to get pages to display correctly in Internet Explorer?
Thankfully, some folks at Microsoft have developed their own version of this popular extension: the Web Developer Toolbar for Internet Explorer. The IE version isn’t as strong in CSS-related features, but it gives you a terrific DOM manipulation window and many other handy features. The Web Developer Toolbar offers many of the great options provided by the Firefox extension, such as validation, outlining, displaying of various pieces of data, and clearing IE’s cache or session cookies.
