Politics and public policy
In this chapter we are going to start looking at the relationship between government and business. This is a subject area that we expect many of you will think of as being dry and uninteresting, and this can sometimes be the case. It is, however, of very great importance and has all kinds of direct and indirect consequences for HR and L&D work. The truth is that government policy is often a major factor that determines not only what an organisation is able to accomplish, but also whether it is viable in its current form.
