This chapter introduces readers to the subject of change management, a topic that has arisen in passing in many previous chapters, but has not yet been dealt with in and of itself. It is most certainly true that the landscape facing organisations of all kinds is changing, and arguably changing rather more rapidly than has been the case historically. In the opening chapters of this text we explored some of the various issues together, including the debates connected with globalisation, new and emerging technologies, labour markets and population amongst others.
