So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What Is License Compliance?
What is license compliance, and why should you care about it? If you recall from Chapter 3, Licenses: The Rules of IP Engagement, a copyright holder uses a license to say who can use their work and how they’re allowed to use it. License compliance is the process of ensuring that your company has the right to use a copyrighted work (are one of the who) and that your company is following the conditions of the licenses (the how).
Remember, in the case of free and open source software, using the software means you agree to the terms of the licenses under which the copyright holders of the software have released it. If your company is using the FOSS, it has agreed to the terms of the license, even if it doesn’t realize ...
