In the public-speaking world, in which people get paid to talk to people, some speakers and celebrities refer to themselves as “motivational speakers.” They appear at professional association conferences, conventions, and company-wide meetings, address large audiences with all the enthusiasm and energy they can muster, and hope that you leave the session feeling motivated.
In the same way, some sports coaches like to give hard-hitting pre-game or half-time speeches to rally their players.
