Insisting on perfection

Abstract

Dealing with our desire for artistic expression and passion for our craft in the context of commercial project constraints can be a real challenge for designers. Setting realistic goals with the team and checking our motivations when adding extra polish are key to finding a sustainable work pace. Introducing a functional grammar to divide ideas into essential, optimistic, and nice to have categories helps manage expectations of all stakeholders on the team while letting everyone freely express ideas. Create UX debt to park important UX work that can’t be done now, but needs to be addressed.
