Digital marketing and research
Three of the most common areas of marketing research involve ‘markets’, products and distribution. Let’s briefly consider each area:
- Market research – specifically undertaken on the market size, type, condition, volume or value. This research is particularly useful when you have the responsibility of researching brand new markets.
- Product research – focuses on the product, product features or desirability of the product. This is often used in the process of new product development (see Chapter 19) where the core focus of your work is centred around understanding the actual product(s). Alternatively, it can also be used if you start to encounter any problems with your products.
