It's important to know that there was Hadoop first generation, many aspects were bundled and performed by the MapReduce component, such as resource management, job scheduling, and job processing. To address this aspect, Hadoop second generation was envisaged and is used widely now. To understand the Hadoop 2.x architecture, it's good to know the basics of the Hadoop 1.x architecture and that's what we will do in a very brief fashion in this section.
