INTRODUCTION

Business analysis is a very broad discipline, encompassing numerous frameworks and techniques, and supporting a wide variety of business situations. It is accurate to describe it as a ‘portfolio’ role; however, the breadth of the portfolio raises difficulties with defining the business analyst role clearly.

Chapter 1 explained the issues that may arise when the business analyst role is not clearly defined, such as a lack of role clarity on the part of stakeholders and a lack of role identity on the part of business analysts.
