Hue – is another term for
color and the two words are
used interchangeably.
Saturation – also referred
to as the intensity of color. Satura-
tion is the strength or purity of a
hue without the addition of white
or black.
Color temperature –
the perceived warmth or coolness
of a color.
Value – the relative degree of
lightness or darkness of a color.
Adding white or black will change
the value of a color.
This subtractive model is based
on the primaries red, blue, and yellow and most
closely mimics the artist’s spectrum. For design-
