Fault Locating
Proficiency is required in Elementary Fault Localisation by means of Built-in Measuring Instruments or Software in Accordance with the Equipment Manuals and Elementary Fault Repair such as Replacement of Fuses, Indicator lamps, and the like.
Modern equipment is usually capable of self-diagnostic tests, which will indicate to the operator which part of the equipment is faulty. Other indications of faults may be lamps which illuminate when a fault is detected by the equipment, fuses indicating they are ‘blown’ or circuit breakers which have ‘tripped’, meters giving incorrect readings, and visual displays on built-in screens, or printed read-outs.
