Testing

Electrical testing of a device is grouped into three categories.

  1. Voltage testing under both DC and AC conditions,

  2. Output and termination impedance testing,

  3. Timing testing.

Teradyne is a supplier of test equipment. DC voltage testing is done when a steady state logic '1' and logic '0' is driven. AC voltage testing is made when the transmitter is transmitting a vector pattern at a specified frequency. Impedance testing is performed by measuring the amount of current sourced by the transmitter or the amount of current sunk by the transmitter when driving a logic '1' or logic '0'. R = V/I resistance can be calculated given a signal voltage of 1.2 volts.
