During registration, each component does a security handshake with the kernel using X.509
certificate verification on both ends. This confirms that the component being registered is
authentic. After the authenticity is verified, the kernel stores the RMI stub of the client
component in its registry, to be used by other authenticated clients. All clients communicating
with the kernel must first get authenticated in this way before they can communicate with the
kernel.
Because the kernel acts as central office through which all components communicate,
security authentication at the kernel level is sufficient to maintain secure communication
