In servlets and JSPs, our clients are very lightweight—just a browser is required. The examples in this section move on to true distributed applications, where an appreciable part of the processing load may be handled by the client. We'll look at distributed objects within Web applications, as enabled by the Java RMI and JMS technologies. And we'll look at the emerging Web-Service technologies that are changing how people think about using the Internet for business-to-business applications.
