In simple terms, we can understand axonometric projections as 3D views of the model we are creating the drawing for, in other terms, the object tilted to a certain degree in comparison to the plane of projection, which is our drawing sheet. There are three common types of axonometric projections: isometric, dimetric, and trimetric.
