HACK
The Colors option allows you to specify two colors as RGB values: the first
color is the lowest in the range, and the second color is the highest. The two
colors are both shaded to white.
The results of running this script are illustrated in Figure 4-16.
You don’t have to be a GIS geek to make your own political maps (though
you probably still have to be a spreadsheet geek). Hopefully, once you’re
done with this book, it’ll be a no-brainer.

Extract a Spatial Model from Wikipedia Hack #45
The Wiki encyclopedia covers the world; mine its data structure for use in
mapping applications.

Maintained by casual online volunteers, many who are experts in their
fields, it aims for a “neutral point of view” in recounting world knowledge,
history, places, and political systems. This hack discusses the English Wiki-
pedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/), but the principle will work with any of their
many language editions, featuring mostly original articles.
“Wiki nature” allows anyone on the Web to edit each page; it also allows
anyone to create links between pages using a simple markup, which encloses
