The safeTransferFrom function

The safeTransferFrom() function is a public function that is used to safely transfer the NFT from the owner's account to the recipient account. Here, safely transfer means that, when a recipient is a contract, you need to ensure that the recipient contract has callbacks registered to let the receiver contract get a notification when ERC721 token transfer is successful.

This function takes the following arguments:

  • from: The address of the current owner of the NFT
  • to: The address of the recipient who will receive the NFT
  • tokenIdtokenId of the NFT that is to be transferred
  • _data: The bytes data that is to be forwarded to the ERC721Receiver contract, if the to address (recipient) is a contract
