There are other visions of the Smart City, compared to the vision presented in this book, several bordering on the dystopic. They are often pushed by global big businesses, and often for reasons of self-interest, advancing their positions and trademarks. These ideas are then repeated, without realizing the underlying reasons, by a large audience hoping to be noticed or hoping to be able to jump on the buzz word bandwagon and earn money in start-up companies looking for venture capital. The common denominator in these visions (or deliriums) is often an all-intrusive collection (or hoarding) of data from everywhere, everyone, and everything.
