Understanding the importance
In article 12 of UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we can read: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honor and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks. Simply put, privacy is a fundamental human right.
The fundamental human rights form the basis on which all legislation should be built, national as well as international.
