Each broker operates on a domain, and each domain is protected by a domain certificate. Clients connect to the domain using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) and validate the certificate. Connections can be normal binary socket connections, EXI compressed connections, Bidirectional-streams Over Synchronous HTTP, or BOSH connections. The latter is typically used by web clients. These connections are typically named client-to-server, or c2s connections.
