4.1 データカタログ
データカタログ（DC：Data Catalog）は、社内のデータに関する検索エンジンのようなものです†1。前章で取り上げたCMDBや次章で説明するISMSのように、ITランドスケープに存在すると想定されるデータを一般的かつ抽象的な形で一覧化するメタデータリポジトリもあります。しかしDCはそれらとは異なり、ITランドスケープに実際に存在しているデータを示します。
DCは、ITランドスケープ内のデータソースからDCにメタデータをクロールまたはストリーミングすることで、ITランドスケープ内のデータをメタデータ層で表示します。したがって、DCは表現する対象と物理的な接続を持ちます。これは、図4-1にも示されています。
