When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Save and buy once.
Q: WHAT’S YOUR PHILOSOPHY WHEN BUYING EQUIPMENT? SAVE UP AND BUY THE BEST ONCE, OR BUY WHAT YOU CAN NOW AND THEN BUY A BETTER ONE LATER? SOMETIMES WHAT YOU KNOW YOU NEED SEEMS OUT OF REACH, WHEN A CHEAP ONE IS RIGHT THERE!
A: Spend money once. You get what you pay for. Trust me. I’d rather shoot with a single $100 50mm f1.8 lens for a year than add a crappy $200 f4–5.6 kit lens to my bag. I’d rather have a used 85mm f1.8 lens than a cheap f2.8 Tokina/Tamron/Sigma zoom lens. I’ve owned a number of third party lenses and, while they are a bargain, over time they just never held up to their OEM counterparts.
Don’t buy cheap gear. Save your money. You don’t have to have the best all the time; wait to get the 85mm f1.8 instead of ...
