The goal of personal projects.
Q: WHEN YOU DO A PERSONAL PROJECT, DO YOU JUST DO A BLOG POST AND IF SOMEONE, SUCH AS A GALLERY, MAGAZINE, WEB SITE, ETC., SEES IT AND WANTS TO SHOW IT THEN GREAT, AND IF NOT, NO SWEAT, AS IT WAS JUST YOU SHOOTING WHAT YOU WANTED? ESSENTIALLY, IS THERE A GOAL WITH PERSONAL PROJECTS OTHER THAN JUST PHOTOGRAPHS?
A: There are typically several goals I have when doing personal projects. Some of the goals are personal. Some are related to business. The overarching goals of a personal project are:
• To hone my skills.
• To photograph a subject or topic that I’m not being hired to photograph.
• To promote myself as a photographer to be hired for other projects.
