Let’s say for the moment that your client invites you to give a presentation to the executive committee on the project you’ve been working on for the past 6 months. In the process of discussing the details, the client realizes that this is an important meeting and allots 4 hours for your presentation.
You proceed to put together 4 hours’ worth of presentation. Four hours’ worth of cardboard-framed overhead transparencies is about 2 feet high. You walk into the conference room balancing the 2-foot pile of transparencies, drop them on the conference room table, and your client says, “Oops, sorry, I know I said you’d have 4 hours, but we have a crisis and we can give you only 1 minute.”
