No matter what chart, image, or text you use, if the lettering on the screen is illegible, then it’s a big and frustrating waste of your audience’s time.
Speaking of legibility, a few years ago, a friend of mine received this letter. (As you’d expect, I changed the references.) Under a magnifying glass here’s what it said:
Dear name of company
Having trouble reading this, aren’t you?
In the six months we have sat through your visual presentations, three members of our company have been fitted for bifocals, one has purchased a seeing-eye dog, and the chairman of our committee is now running a newsstand.
